Saturday is the 7th Annual Worldwide Day of Play. To honor the day’s theme, Nickelodeon will shut off it’s entire media empire from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. That’s right, Nickeldeon is going dark for the day.
All their cable stations will be down, as well as their associated websites. Your kids will have to choose between playing outdoors or tuning in to the Disney Channel instead.
I didn’t think anything could make me love Nickelodeon, but this kind of does.
Why stop at once a year, though? Could we have a Worldwide Day of Play every Saturday? What about every afternoon from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., when kids should be running wild outdoors instead of parking in front of a TV or computer screen?
How will you celebrate Play Day? I’ll be at the Common Ground Fair in Maine, checking out organic farm animals and locally made crafts. I’m hoping to score some garlic bulbs to plant in our garden when we get home.
