If you watched the American Music Awards last night, you witnessed one of the most mind-blowing things I’ve seen in a long time. (No, not Justin Bieber’s bizarre brooch.) I’m talking about the mashup of the New Kids on the Block and the Backstreet Boys, aka NKOTBSB, the super group of the century!
Chances are if you’re of child-bearing age, you had a crush on at least one of the members of at least one of the OG 1990’s boy bands. For me, Joey McIntyre was the living end in my 13-year-old mind. I wrote page after page about him in my Hello Kitty diary. I had NKOTB posters and pins and folders and would shove my ear up next to my boom box just to listen to him sing “Please Don’t Go Girl” or my holiday fave, “I Still Believe in Santa Claus.” I do still believe in Santa Claus, because the reunion of the New Kids mashed up with the Backstreet Boys is probably the best Christmas gift Santa could have given, since now I have an excuse to relive my childhood with my own daughter.
CBS reports that NKOTBSB will kick off their tour June 2 in Uncasville, CT. Best part about that? I’m single again… are you Joey?! In case you missed their performance last night, here it is, featuring the biggest hits of both bands. Feel free to leave your fan girl freak-outs in the comments. (Just remember, Joey’s mine. You can have Jordan.)
