Obama's First Children's Book Hits Shelves Today!

Of Thee I Sing

Before taking on the Presidency Barack Obama penned two best selling books for adults : Dreams from my Father, and The Audacity of Hope. But his third book may make an even bigger splash on the best seller list.

Today Of Thee I Sing will hit book shelves all over. Written by our current president before he took office in January of 2009, and illustrated by high profile artist Loren Long famous for her work with the likes of Madonna and Frank McCourt, it sends an excellent message from a father’s point of view.

The book’s publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, describes it as a moving tribute to thirteen groundbreaking Americans and the ideals that have shaped our nation.Obama writes it to his daughters, Sasha and Malia, highlighting qualities he admires in each of them while comparing them to such famous and groundbreaking American heroes as Jackie Robinson, George Washington, and Georgia O’Keeffe.

All of the proceeds made from Of Thee I Sing will go towards a scholarship fund for children of American soldiers killed or disabled.
