Sometimes kids say the craziest things. They open their mouths and the words that come out cause us to chuckle or anxiously look around to see if anyone else might have heard what they said. They call it like they see it and you can always count on them to tell you exactly what they think. While their delivery isn’t always the greatest (it might be in the form of a tantrum or a sassy response from your tween), we tend to learn a lot from them. We also learn to be more careful with what we say around them too. Ever hear your preschooler mimic you or your spouse’s words? They tend to be selective in what they pick too, it’s usually something that will make you turn red as they belt it out across the dinner table or in front of a co-worker you happened to run in to while grocery shopping.
But here’s the thing, sometimes we adults also say crazy things, especially when it comes to our love life. When I first watched this video for a dating book called Get The Guy I couldn’t help but laugh, the girls sipping their juice boxes whilst talking about boy problems resonated with me, something I did with girlfriends only minus the juice boxes. But then it made me think about how I might really sound or carry myself when it comes to my own relationship challenges, sometimes childish perhaps. It also reminded me to be mindful of the message that I am sending to my own daughter, who could have very easily been one of the girls on the playground. As parents we are our children’s first teachers and when it comes to our interactions with our spouses or the person who we are dating (should our children be aware of that) and they are most definitely paying attention. Take a look at the video below:
What are your thoughts? Is this video an accurate portrayal of love life challenges for women?
