BABBLE BEST - MOMMY BLOGGERS
Mommy bloggers make a difference. Sometimes it's their confessional tone that helps you feel like you're not the only one, sometimes their simple honesty puts you at ease, and sometimes they're so funny, you almost snarf your protein shake. There are the bloggers we relate to and there are others we watch like a train wreck, but no matter where we're coming from, we're all part of the same overwhelming, magical situation.
That's why we're dedicating the inaugural Babble Top 50 list to those who know best: moms. Babble staff and contributors compiled our top mommy-blogger picks based on the following criteria: most controversial, funniest, most confessional, best design, most useful and best written (though we left off Babble's own mommy bloggers because, as with our own kids, we couldn't possibly pick a favorite). These are our picks, but we're sure you'll have something to say on the matter, too.

Mr. Lady | Whiskey in My Sippy Cup
She calls herself Mr. Lady and she’s brutally honest - about parenting, about her deepest fears in life and about her struggle with mental illness. She’s as sarcastic as her blog title suggests and often offers up a side of snark. Chosen as the keynote community speaker at 2008′s Blogher conference, Whiskey in My Sippy Cup’s Mr. Lady read aloud a blog post titled, It’s not the fall that kills you, it’s the sudden stop. Throughout the speech, in which she recounts her history of depression and her relationship with her hypochondriac and disturbed mother, Mr. Lady fought back emotion. If “mommy” blogging gives women the courage to share and own what scares us most about our relationships with our parents, our kids, and ourselves, then maybe we should all be blogging. But for now, we’re giving Whiskey in My Sippy Cup a gold star for openness and for making us double over laughing while reading.

Read Mr. Lady’s favorite blog posts of 2009 and why she loved them:
• On Motherhood
“I chose this one because it’s that sort of post that I’m going to want to re-read 80 years from now. “
• Long Overdue
“I chose this one because I was so afraid to write it. I love it because I need to read it sometimes.”
• I’m Still Not Exactly Sure Where I Was Going With This
“Now, this one I chose because it still cracks me up, years later. You have to laugh at yourself sometimes, right? “

Mr. Lady is a fantastic writer and I love her blog. I’m glad she was included in this list. I don’t think she’s controversial though. Unless having alcohol in your blog url is considered controversial. Still, great choice for the list.
That’s way more celver than I was expecting. Thanks!
