I wish this was happening in my neighborhood.
Cookie and Gourmet magazines have teamed up for Kids’ Restaurant Week in Washington, DC, offering a week of demonstrations and discounts at some of the city’s best restaurants. Participating restaurants will offer special prix-fixed menus from 5pm to 7pm; kids under 11 will pay their age, while the ‘rents will pay just $29.
“Meals are an important time for families to spend together,” says Carolyn Kremins, VP/publisher of Cookie. “We are thrilled to be able to offer them this unique experience.”
Of course, you don’t need a special restaurant week to bring the kids along. In my experience, most upscale restaurants are happy to accommodate your little one with small plates and distractions, provided you dine early enough.
The week begins on June 13, with cooking demonstrations, tastings, and culinary activities for the kids, and runs through June 21. A portion of the proceeds will go to charity.
The fun continues the following week with similar events in New York and Chicago.
