Everyone is talking about Scott Brown today, the man who stole Ted Kennedy’s seat to make himself the first Republican Senator in Massachusetts since 1972.
You want to talk about how he did it and what it might mean for Massachusetts, the nation, and health care reform? Go check out Brett’s Morning News.
What I’m here to talk about are his daughters. Because in his acceptance speech last night, Scott Brown proved himself to be the most embarrassing dad ever:
At my seven-year-old’s birthday party last weekend, a classmate’s dad mentioned to me that his son thought my daughter was “pretty special.” His son turn 20 shades of red and punched his dad in the leg.
Scott Brown announced to the nation, “anybody who’s watching” that his daughters were “available.” Ayla seemed to take it pretty well, but Arianna was clearly mortified. Scott Brown’s awkward handling of that moment and complete disregard for his daughters’ dignity could be titled, “How Not to Thank Your Daughters for Their Undying Support During Your Campaign.” He redeems himself, a little, moments later when he actually starts talking about their accomplishments rather than their private love lives.
What do you think? Cute and classic “dad” move, or just creepy?
