Shiny Object: The All New RedRover App

Red Rover app for events for kids and familiesI know, I know: RedRover has been around for a while now, so it shouldn’t qualify for a new “shiny object.” But the team at Red Rover has released a new version of their app, and it’s pretty awesome.

If you don’t already know, RedRover is an app (both a web app and a free iOS version; Android version and additional cities coming soon) that allows families to peruse local events that are ideal for kids. If you’re lucky enough to live in the cities it currently serves (New York, San Francisco, and Atlanta), you can easily find, save, and even share events you’d like to attend with Facebook and Twitter.

If you’re curious, the app was created by Kathyrn Tucker, a mom of two and former film producer (she produced one of my all-time favorite films, The Station Agent, which fostered my crush on actor Peter Dinklage, more famous now for Game of Thrones). While there are many great resources for kids events in most cities (here in Philly I’m a huge fan of Philly Kids Thing, created by a friend), I love the interactive features on RedRover.

This version feels both more functional and less bulky than the original version; I think you’ll find the app completely intuitive and simple to use. Check it out, and keep an eye on its arrival in your town!

Find RedRover on Twitter, Facebook, web, and in iTunes.
