Should a 6-Year-Old Child Testify in Parent's Murder Case?Stephanie Precourt
Former Survivor reality show producer Bruce Beresford-Redman is charged with the murder of his wife at a Cancun resort last year while vacationing with his family. Before he is extradited to Mexico to be tried in his wife’s slaying, he has asked for his 6-year-old daughter to testify that he did not commit the crime.
His two children were in the room at the time of the reported slaying. Witnesses indicate there was a loud and possibly violent argument with a certain amount of time going by without the mother being seen at the resort. The child’s therapist, however, claims that the daughter never heard her parents argue nor was she or her sibling ever left alone at the resort.
It’s a circumstantial case with many points to wonder about- some claiming he couldn’t possibly take his children on the family trip to commit a murder, but what if that is part of the cover-up? The child claims the parents did not see them argue, but from a 6-year-old’s perspective a story could be viewed so differently. Also, who knows what the father has told his children to say? Others question that Mexico is pointing fingers at the wrong person to protect the reputation of the popular Cancun vacation destination. I am hoping more substantial evidence is presented so that justice can be served for this family.
Ever wonder just how much do your kids remember?
