Sloooooow Day in Georgia as Police Shut Down Kids' Lemonade StandMeredith Carroll
It’s a good thing that Midway, Georgia, doesn’t have too many problems. Because if it did, then who knows what would have happened if an illegally run lemonade stand had been allowed to continue operating. Perish the thought, right?
Three girls were running a lemonade stand — ILLEGALLY! — without a business license, peddler’s permit and a food permit for a single day before drawing the attention of authorities.
Midway Police Chief Kelly Morningstar said there was no way to know how the lemonade was made, who made it or what was in it. Because, like, a weapon of mass destruction could have been hiding in one cup, a pedophile in another, and a special al-Qaeda-made poison could have been lingering in yet another, right?
The girls were attempting to make money so they could take a trip to a water park. Without the $50 a day to obtain the business license, peddler’s permit and food permit to operate legally, even on residential property, the girls are now doing chores and yard work to try and earn some extra money.
And residents of Midway are all breathing enormous sighs of relief now that the streets are safe from kid-run lemonade stands once again. Close call.
