Study Says Women Would Rather Pay Bills Than Have You-know-what

abstinence

On the heels of Valentine's Day (yes, I said it), would you give up sex to get your bills paid?

I’m laughing. I suppose it shouldn’t be funny, but I just received a press release that says women would rather pay bills than have sex. That’s the headline of the email, anyway.

The survey was conducted on behalf of BillFloat, a company that says it offers, “… consumers more time to pay their bills on time to help avoid late fees, overdraft charges, service termination and high cost loans.”  It found that more than one-third of Americans would rather give up TV, digital devices, the Internet or sex if they could have their monthly bills paid by someone else. In fact, “… one in five (21 percent) women would abstain from sex for six months (as compared to only 16 percent of men willing to give up sex).”  Conversely, more men would accept gaining 15 pounds and have their bills paid than women (just 5%). Priorities, people. Priorities!

I’m pretty bad at math but I do know that 21% is a minority of women, so apparently it’s only a small segment of the ladies that would really rather stop “doing it” and have their bills paid instead for six months.  Most are not willing to choose abstinence over money. It appears that more consumers would accept letting go of their smartphones and their remotes than their fun between the sheets.

Still, it’s understandable that many people would agree to give up all sorts of things if they had someone else covering their monthly bills for half of the year, especially in this economy. I can think of quite a few things I’d give up.  Except sex. My husband would kill me …

In case you’re looking for a little help in the bill paying department, BillFloat has a sweepstakes for which one winner will get up to $25,000 of their bills paid.

What about you? What would you be willing to give up if someone agreed to pay your bills?
