Teacher Writes Moving Response to Student's Poignant Coming-Out Letter (PHOTO)

apple for the teacherA teacher of an AP English course asked her students to write an essay about a weight they carry with them daily.

One student came out as gay in his essay, writing to his teacher that the knowledge of his sexuality has “been with me for about six years now, and it was a burden for a great deal of time.”

The only thing more eloquent than his moving story is the handwritten note his teacher left at the bottom of his essay. All teachers should be this sensitive, compassionate and lovely.
