Thanks for Always Looking Out for Me, Dad: 10 Hilariously Awkward Father's Day PhotosJoslyn Gray
A recent scientific study showed that fatherhood makes men choose safer behavior. Apparently that’s not always the case, as some of these photos will show.
I know that my hubby is much more likely to teach the kids to take risks, and that’s okay. I mean, I wouldn’t want him bunging-cording one of our kids to the back of a motorcycle, or anything. But other than that, it’s a really good thing my husband’s around to counteract my general parenting paranoia.
Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there! Thanks for teaching our kids to soar. (Sometimes literally.)
Safety First 1 of 10The person who submitted this photo to AFP wrote, "My dad loved motorcycles. This is him on his Yamaha with me in back and my 2 yr old brother bungee corded to the seatback." Considering how many kids my family could jam into a station wagon (seat belt? What's a seat belt?), this was actually pretty safe behavior for the time.
Daddy’s Favorite 2 of 10No children were harmed in the making of this photo. At least, not physically harmed. Someone's probably spending lots of time on the therapy couch, though.
Hahahahahaha! Fear is so funny! 3 of 10Dad, thanks for thinking my terror is hilarious.
Magic Dad is way more awesome than Magic Mike. 4 of 10Seriously, a shirtless guy that can magically get six babies to fall asleep at the same time is pretty much a god among men. However, I really hope this mom got to take a nap, too. Why is she the only one awake?
The Awkwardness is Timeless 5 of 10"Twelve years to the day after the original was taken," wrote the dad, "we took this photo to show that my son Ian survived the entire hair-raising ordeal." This dad's sheer joy in squishing his face next to his son's is totally adorable, actually.
Dads know that keeping kids hydrated is really important. 6 of 10So, I guess this is before Capri Suns were a thing?
Thanks for always pointing me in the right direction. 7 of 10You always know just when to give me that little push and/or giant shove I need to succeed.
Nom Nom Nom 8 of 10Dad's got the munchies and Mom does not look pleased. I assume she's upset with herself for forgetting to pack snacks.
Dad, thanks for teaching me to reach for the stars. Literally. 9 of 10This guy explained to AFP: "In my own defense, my son didn't actually hit the tree branch, though I have no answer for why he isn't wearing pants." My answer is that it was obviously Pants-Optional Sunday in their house. What, you don't do that?
Who Wears Short-Shorts? 10 of 10Dad wears short-shorts.
