The Costume that Wins Halloween 2012: Jesus Fresco (PHOTO)

It’s old news that over the summer a woman named Cecilia Giménez attempted to restore a 19th century painting of Jesus, Ecce Homo, that was gifted to the Centro de Estudios Borjanos in Borja, Spain. No one asked her to do it. She was in no way qualified to do it. The results were, predictably, disastrous, if not hilarious (the volume of your chuckle, of course, will be dependent on how amused you are in general when great works of art are casually and needlessly destroyed).

But while it may be old news, it’s still funny news.

One Reddit user seized on the funny part and made a Halloween costume out of the disaster. Because if we can’t laugh in the face of tragedy — and use it as an excuse to elicit an extra Milky Way bar or two when trick-or-treating — then the amateur painters win.
