Top 50 Mom Blogs, 2010
Babble's inaugural Top 50 Mom Blogger list began by saying that "mom bloggers make a difference." Well, it's 2010 now, and you'd have to be under a parenting stone not to know that already. Not only do they make "a" difference, but for many moms in cities and towns and burbs nationwide they make the difference, providing information, LOLs, "I've-been-there-sister" reassurance, and perhaps more than anything, the camaraderie that helps get you through the long, breakfast-till-you-put-them-down day.
As a collective, mom bloggers have given the previously too closed, too private, too go-through-it-alone experience of motherhood a voice. And does that voice travel! From major media figures including Lisa Belkin of the New York Times blog Motherlode to ma-without-pop operations such as Bacon Is My Enemy, these virtual sisters are broadcasting their real-mom experiences loud and clear.
And we couldn't be more happy to help them be heard. So for this year's Top 50, we had a group of mom blogger/parenting experts make their choices, then we dug over the data and compiled the 50 mom bloggers you should be following for 2010.
It was tough to trim it to 50, but that's where you come in. Please, please, nominate your favorites, too! Let the world know just how many and how great the mom bloggers out there are. We're all one big community, and the better we know each other, the more we all benefit. Look for your nominations on our 2011 list next year and, in the meantime, read, write, and link up. We're all in it together! - The Babble Editors

Laura Mayes | Blog con Queso

Laura Mayes, a Texas mom of one, is a welcome addition to this year’s list. Her wonderfully-photographed blog is part humor, part sass and really, really smart (we shouldn’t be surprised, since Mayes helped to found social media site Kirtsy with fellow Top Mom Blogger Gabrielle Blair).
Blog con Queso covers all topics essential to creating a stylish life, from absolutely fabulous products to recipes that make us want to run (not walk) straight to our kitchen! So whether you need instructions on building the perfect scarecrow or are just curious to know the latest music playing on her iPod, head over to Blog con Queso for some good, cheesy fun!

I LOVE Finslippy. She’s absolutely hilarious!
What about Dad Blogs?
I love Finslippy, too! And Her Bad Mother and Scary Mommy and Free Range Kids, to name a few friends. VERY proud to be included here among such awe-inspiring bloggers.
I wish I could do what these women do. They are stand-out good.
@TimeOutDad John Cave Osborne wrote about the list over at Strollerderby — from a dad blogger’s perspective. You might enjoy his take: http://blogs.babble.com/strollerderby/2010/11/08/its-here-the-50-mother-of-all-lists-babbles-top-50-mom-bloggers/

@Margaret – Thanks SO much! There should be a top 100 Parent Blogs. As moms and dads, we work as a team.
Feast After Famine has been a must-read for me since its debut. She’s a great writer–by turns hilarious, poignant, insightful.

Seriously-4, maybe 5 mamas of color out of 50? And maybe 3 mamas of kids with special needs?
I love Kate and Lydia of Rants From Mommyland, and The Blogess too, and Mom-O-Matic is much loved as well!
Great list. Thanks for sharing!
Great list. But next year, try to get a bit more diversity! There are a ton of mom blogs out there that are funny, controversial and widely-read; AND are written by women of color.
dooce
Is it just me or does babble continue to use the mom bloggers over and over? Yes they are talented but lets see some new, undiscovered bloggers.
Thank you so much for including me with such dynamic and talented women.
One of my favorite mom blogs? Nic at MyBottlesUp.com
How about the “expert” moms? Like the psychologists, pediatricians, scientists, and others writing great, informative and entertaining blogs about children, parenting, and other topics? I’d love to see some on the list next year.
Dooce!
What an honor to be included with such amazing women! Thanks so much! Can’t wait to check out some of the other blogs…
Congrats to all the sharp ladies nominated! Thanks also to everyone who has voted for Biz e-Mom’s Blog. You are awesome
It seems like a lot of the same blogs as last year. I also wonder why more of the top reader nominated blogs weren’t included. So many of my favorites made the top 10 on that list but aren’t here.
Does anyone know how long the “liking” is going to be open on the nominations list?
Wonderful list! I’d like to see a nod to the great mom podcasts out there too – like The Because Show, Manic Mommies, Musing Mommies, Naptime Radio: there are so many good ones!
Great list. I think I missed to participate.
Those are really good ones too. Thanks!

I’m fairly new to the blog game, but I would love to see all mommy bloggers, having a chance at winninga ‘Title’, so to speak. There are so many, amazing, witty, and inspiring, mommy bloggers, out there on the web today. Having a simple top 50, just isn’t enough, though one day, I’d surely love to make the list *Smile*.
Congrats to all the winners! I am sure they are all well deserved. Mommy bloggers ROCK!

Hi! My daughter and I have co- authored a Childrens book,( which I have illustrated) entitled, “Bon Bon, Voyage”. Ours is the story of Bridget, who circles the globe sampling desserts. Kids learn words in a variety of languages, and fun facts about different countries. ” Bon Bon Voyage” comes with a CD of original songs written by Award winning music composers, the Wojahn Brothers. ( They write the music for the Jack in the Box commercials, Fruit of the Loom, and many more!) check out our Bon Bon VoyageFacebook page for more info!!!

It’s amazing how exhausting the first year of parenting is (especially if you have multiple children). I have two toddlers (4 and 3 years) who no longer take naps and a 7 month old baby. I have zero time to myself and I’m a walking zombie. At least I know that there are other moms out there experiencing the same thing!
SouleMama is one of the best bloggers out there. It’s not like she’s new, but she’s still amazing. I read her every day, right there with Design Mom.
Looking forward to hearing more about dad blogs too!

I started my blog a couple of months ago as a way share. Share some of the wonderful advice that I felt was swimming in my head and had no outlet. Little did I know that I would be letting my life unfold onto the computer keyboard and be sharing so much of myself. Great way to break up to mommy monotony and share great pieces of advice that has been passed onto me along the way. Check it out wowmomlife.com
Has anyone else noticed how Momastery suddenly appeared at the top of the list? I figured her blog must be pretty good, so I took a look. Not my style, but she does has a large following on Facebook, where she and her followers are coaching each other on how to cheat the system and vote many, many times in succession. Not cool. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Momastery/178909129709
This is a great list… I think that it’s quite useful, especially for moms looking for advice.
On a sidenote, if anyone is thinking about throwing a themed party for their kids, here’s a great suggestion! http://www.madscience.org/locations/east/madscienceparties2.aspx?sm=11099

Hi guys — I’m currently #17 on your Vote For the Top 50 Mom Blogs of 2011. Unfortunately the blurb about my site is inaccurate. It’s no longer a pregnancy blog. I was wondering if there was any way to update that information? Thank you!
