The Top Ten Halloween Candies: Did Your Favorite Make the List?

iStock_000000714171XSmallOver the weekend we made a very important purchase, we stocked up on candy for Halloween. We live in a neighborhood where we get a ton of trick-or-treaters, usually numbering in the hundreds. Every year we end up running out of candy so we have learned to buy not just those giant value packs, but many of them. But it’s not just the quantity that we take into consideration, we also think quality although we tend to pick out our personal favorites (just in case their are left-overs). At our local Target, my husband grabbed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, my daughter selected Skittles, and I went with my personal Halloween favorite, 3 Musketeers. All three we figured would make the little ghosts and goblins that come by our house happy. Turns out we made pretty good choices with two of our selections coming in at the 7th and 1st most popular Halloween candies in America. How do we know? Because their was a study of course!

Halloween is the biggest time of year for not just the selling of candy but the consumption as well, and the big favorite, by a landslide, is chocolate in pretty much any form. The National Confectioners Association reports that 72% of all candy spending this Halloween will be on chocolate.  24/7 Wall St. reviewed took data from IRI, a Chicago-based market research firm, and put together a list of the top ten Halloween candies (all of them chocolate) which may or many not help you in your own Halloween candy purchases:

The winners were:

10: Almond Joy

9: Milky Way

8. Hershey’s Cookies ‘N’ Creme

7. 3 Musketeers

6. Twix

5. Kit Kat

4. Hershey’s

3. Snickers

2. M&M’s

1. Reese’s

What is your family’s favorite Halloween candy choice?
