Thomas the Tank Engine May Have Met His Matchtoddler-times
Parents of train fans, rejoice – you may get a half hour break from Thomas the Tank Engine. Playhouse Disney will begin airing a new train show next week.
Like Charlie and Lola before it, Chuggington has been plucked straight from the Brits and brought stateside by Disney.
Trainee trains Koko, Brewster and Wilson are known as chuggers, and they’re a “traintastic crew” riding the rails to learning in Chuggington. The CGI animation is bright and fun, the characters voiced in high pitched tones that make them kid-like.
Thomas fans will recognize the same focus on lessons – social and emotional values – but in a much more Disney-esque setting. While the Island of Sodor is a serious place, Chuggington is a fun town where baby giraffes are born with the help of little chuggers, and people and engines interact extensively. Our little viewer requested repeated viewings of the premiere – and she’s been singing the theme song – so you might want to set your Tivo.
The show will premiere on Monday, Jan. 18, on Playhouse Disney at 10:30 a.m. ET/PT, but you can get your kids acquainted right now with the characters, playing games and watching clips at Chuggington’s station on the Web. Following the series premiere, Chuggington will air Tuesdays through Fridays at 10:30 a.m. ET/PT and weekends at 7:30 a.m. ET/PT.
Will your little train fans be watching?
