Humorous Toddler Tshirts: Merely Inappropriate to Downright Offensive

By amywindsor |

Delightfully tacky or just too much?

As the old saying goes, “There’s no accounting for people’s tastes.” And so it is with this round-up of t-shirts available for your 1-6 year old. I won’t lie to you, a few of them made me laugh. The same kind of naughty cackles that fuel every viewing of Superbad and The Hangover. But just because we laugh doesn’t mean we’ll actually help our child into one before we leave the house.  Unless you want to and that is totally your prerogative!

I want to feel a lot worse than I do for all the giggling. I want to be outraged that people can be this tacky. But in the end, I find that I am more amused than anything else. With a touch of bemused thrown in, because, honestly, I am mostly mystified that there is a big enough market for these kinds of t-shirts to keep so many sites going.

Merely obnoxious...

or a gateway shirt to misogyny. Oh, fine. Just obnoxious.

These are so funny. I love them all.

  2. Andrea says:

First one is an eyebrow raiser. I’m not offended, but I wouldn’t put my child in it. Can’t be bothered to click through the rest. If you hate this format, let the blogger know!

  3. Elizabeth says:

Mostly tacky, and kind of boring… I wasn’t shocked or appalled by any of them, but I didn’t really find any of them funny except the Isaac Newton one.

  4. gina says:

Mostly gross, but “recently evicted” is kind of funny cute.

  5. Erika says:

BTW, the Rolling Stones logo, obviously one of the most recognized in music history, doesn’t or wasn’t supposed to have any type of sexual connotation. It was designed by John Pasche using a picture of the Hindu goddess Kali as inspiration, as requested by Mick Jagger. The design symbolizes both the band’s anti-authoritarian attitude as well as Mick’s mouth

  6. Kristi Pelletier says:

Most of them are quite rude. I try my best not to have my family look like trash, so I wouldn’t buy any of them for kids, but the “recently evicted” is cute and fairly innocent.

  7. Brandi says:

“recently evicted” is adorably funny. It’s not crass or graphic like the “tore mommy a new one”, yet the two shirts basically say the same message. There is a way to present adult humor in front of/with children that isn’t inappropriate.

  8. Jenna says:

It never would have occured to me that there was anything inappropriate about the Rolling Stones shirt or the one with sports balls saying witty (and completely inoffensive) things to one another… you were definitly reaching on those. The Issac Newton one is a quote from Big Bang Theory by the way, I understand not wanting to put a swear word on your child but it’s different to see it in that context. A few of them are beyond what I would be comfortable putting my child in but if I saw them on another kid at the park I’d probably pee my pants laughing.

  9. Hangover T Shirts says:

Ha, The baby is so cute!
I love Hangover T Shirts Very Much!
    It is quite funny!

  10. MommaKiss says:

I actually had a hat with the blow job comment for my lil one. And a hat w/ “boob man” on it. Hats were easier, though – can take them right off if say, your mother in law stops by.

  11. Karen@HollywoodFarm says:

You KNOW which one I’m getting…..

    The Stones baby!!!!!

  12. Jenny Carden says:

How funny is the Just Evicted…where do I get one!
