The What’s What: You may find yourself instantly captivated by Cakies’ sumptuous photography and personal peeps into blogger Rubyellen’s life. She has a wonderful eye for color and light — and she also has extremely photogenic kids. But it doesn’t take much digging to find easy-to-tackle projects as well, such as storybook-inspired pom-poms to bring a pop of color to a January day or a gorgeous, polka-dotted leather pouch to hold treasures.
The Mama: Cakies blogger Rubyellen, a former teacher who went into retirement to be a SAHM, is the mother of four girls: True, Brave, Soul and Glow. (“Yes, those really are their names,” she assures.) She says her crafting blog has become a personal family journal and notes, “I am a Christian and I often talk about my faith, struggles and relationship with God on my blog. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t be giving you a real portrayal of myself.”
