Babble's Top 100 Mom Blogs of 2011
Elizabeth Jayne Liu of Flourish in Progress
- #43 Babble Best
Elizabeth Jayne Liu launched Flourish in Progress in 2010 to chronicle a personal project in which she pledged not to buy most types of consumer goods for one full year. Inspired by Gretchen Rubin’s The Happiness Project and the fact that she was turning 30, this wickedly funny mom of one invited blog readers along as she attempted to quell her inner shopaholic until her 31st birthday rolled around. How did it go? Well, Liu did break down once along the way and scoop up a vintage Monchichi doll, but mostly she managed to stay away from the mall all year. In addition to gaining some closet space with her 12-month no-shopping pledge, Liu gained a whole lot of blog readers, quickly becoming a hot commodity in the mom blogging community.
