Marinka spent the first part of her life in the Soviet Union. Maybe that’s what contributes to the unique and quirky voice she uses on her blog, MotherhoodInNYC, where she details her current life with Husbandrinka and their two kids, Ladrinka and “my daughter.” Most of her posts are about mundane things any parent can relate to – like the coughs her children contract. But inevitably, Marinka will have a spin on the mundane to make it all her own, hence her assertion that she’s a Cough Whisperer, not only able to hear her children’s cough from “across state lines,” but also able to immediately discern whether or not said cough is a “must see a doctor” cough or just a regular one. In a world where blog voices tend to sound more and more alike, thank goodness for voices like Manrinka’s that stick out from the crowd.
