For the last five days there has been a frantic hunt for 20-year-old single mom Krista Dittmeyer. But the search is – sadly – over. Her body was found in a pond near the area where she went missing.
Last Saturday her car had been discovered in a parking lot in Conway, New Hampshire. The police found her car with the engine running, the hazard lights flashing, and with her 14-month-old daughter Aliyah in the back seat, fortunately the toddler was safe and sound.
There had been hope that Krista was also safe and sound somewhere but that was not the case. There were fears about her fate when blood was found in the car, but the family had been optimistic. Just today, Krista’s family appeared on the Today show to talk about their search, how Krista’s daughter missed her mother, and the family hoped to find her soon, but obviously alive.
“It is with great sorrow that I tell you we located the body today of Krista Dittmeyer. She was found in what is known around this area as Duck Pond,” Senior Assistant Attorney General Jane Young said.
As of now, the police are not releasing any information about the cause or the manner of Krista’s death. They are also not talking about suspects with the public yet. One person who has a pretty good alibi is her ex (and Aliyah’s father), who is currently serving time in prison.
Regardless of the when, how, why, it is a very tragic end, our thoughts go out to her friends, family and her young daughter.
