Virginia Senate Votes To Pass Gay Adoption Ban

Joining only one other state, North Dakota, with a law like this… the Virginia Senate voted yesterday to pass legislation that would allow private adoption agencies to deny gay couples placement of a prospective child based on a conflict with their religious and moral beliefs.

With a vote of 22 to 18, all Republican Senators and two Democratic senators sent the legislation to Governor Bob McDonnell.  When the bill crosses McDonnell’s desk, he has said he will sign it, making it law on July 1st.
