In one of the most hilarious turn of events I have witnessed in a while, Margie Phelps, daughter of pastor Fred Phelps announced on Twitter last night that the Westboro “Baptist Church” plans to protest at Steve Jobs’ funeral. The organization, which is made up mostly of the Phelps family, has picketed and protested several funerals of US soldiers and was present at Elizabeth Edwards’ funeral as well. They have made themselves plain as opportunists who use the deaths of innocent, kind and wonderful people as a platform for their twisted, homophobic, ignorant agenda.
But here’s the kicker: Margie Phelps didn’t just tweet the news that Westboro would be protesting at Jobs’ funeral. She tweeted it via iPhone.
Here’s the tweet: “Westboro will picket his funeral. He had a huge platform; gave God no glory & taught sin. MT @AP: Apple co-founder Steve Jobs has died at 56.”
First of all, what does MT mean? Mean tweet? Mad tweet? Monster tweet? Secondly, as Margie subsequently tweeted:
“Rebels mad cuz I used iPhone to tell you Steve Jobs is in hell.God created iPhone for that purpose! :)”
“Technology.gather going nuts cuz a sister used iPhone to remind this land-o-rebels Steve Jobs is in hell!”
Um…. yeah. And so someone on the Internet – THE INTERNET THAT GOD GAVE US IN ORDER TO TRASH TALK THE WESTBORO BAPTIST CHURCH – created this hysterical, brilliant image:
