What do you think is the most dangerous ride in an amusement park? Like most, you might think it would be a big time risky looking thrill ride like a roller coaster. But off all accidents that happen at amusement parks, ABC News reports that they only accounted for about 10.1 percent of accidents. Another ride might come to mind as being risky is the vintage hit and run ride, the bumper cars. But that only accounts for 3.9 percent of injuries.
The most risky ride is one that most would consider the tamest – the merry-go-round. Carousels account for a stunning 20.9 percent of amusement park injuries. And it’s the littlest of patrons who are the ones who are the most harmed, about a third are under the age of five. Falling was the culprit of most of the accidents.
But overall, these injuries aren’t that common. The journal Clinical Pediatrics, studied park injuries from a variety of rides, and found that there were about 4,400 per year, which averages to about 20 injuries a day.
So far, my family has been lucky. We’ve never gotten injured at an amusement park, except for the occasional blister from too much walking. Has anyone in your family been harmed on a ride?
