Facebook, yes it’s a great suckage of time, way to connect with friends new and old and share with the world the important and unimportant. But there is something else it can do… it can tell someone a lot about you. Sure there are the obvious things such as if you like Mitt Romney, chances are you are a Republican – but according to a study by Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences liking random things such as “curly fries”, “thunderstorms” or even “Lady Antebellum” also are indicators of who you are.
So what do your likes say about you on Facebook? Let’s see what the study has to say (remember, the study – don’t shoot the messenger)….
Facebook Likes Study 1 of 7A study published Monday in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences says Facebook likes "can be used to automatically and accurately predict a range of highly sensitive personal attributes including: sexual orientation, ethnicity, religious and political views, personality traits, intelligence, happiness, use of addictive substances, parental separation, age, and gender."

Liking the Hello Kitty brand…. 6 of 7Tended to be high on Openness and low on Conscientiousness, Agreeableness, and Emotional Stability. They were also more likely to have Democratic political views and to be of Af-rican-American origin, predominantly Christian, and slightly below average age.
