Every married woman wants to feel like her husband knows her well enough to be able to tell when she’s made a subtle change to her look, but so often asking men to identify what’s different about us goes horribly wrong. Men simply don’t notice the little things we do to stay beautiful, and sometimes even the big things. My mother told me that she once died her hair from dark brown to blonde without mentioning it to my father, and he didn’t say anything about the change for a week. When she finally asked if he noticed anything different about her, he replied, “Oh, your hair’s different,” then shrugged.
