By now you have likely heard about the controversy surrounding Chick-fil-A. The fast food restaurant has donated millions to anti-gay organizations over the years and most recently chief operating officer Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press “guilty as charged” when asked if his company opposed marriage equality.
That statement quickly went viral and since then people on both sides of the argument have come out in droves to decry or support Chick-fil-A’s stance on same-sex marriage. The mayor of Boston wrote a letter asking the chain to stay out of his city while former governor Mike Huckabee called for a “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.”
Personally, I think this is a classic case of bigotry hiding behind the first amendment and my family will never set foot in their establishment again.
How do you feel about Chick-fil-A’s stance on same-sex marriage? Will you continue to allow your family to eat there and, if not, how will you explain the choice to your children? Let’s discuss!
