All you Harry Potter fanatics who live on the West Coast, you won’t have to pack up your kids and trek all the way to Florida in a quest to get to Hogwarts. It was announced this week that the Universal Studios in Los Angeles will soon be home to its own ode to all things Wizardy.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, the 20-acre attraction at the Universal Studios in Orlando, proved to be a hit with all Muggles who dare to enter its realm. The Harry Potter area holds three rides: the Forbidden Journey, the roller coasters (that feature dueling twin-track Dragon Challenge) and the family-friendly, Flight of the Hippogriff.
So when will Los Angeles be under Harry’s spell and what will be included?
There hasn’t been any official date but it looks like it should open in 2014 or 2015. The Universal theme park doesn’t have much in the way of extra room so they will have to demolish some current attractions to make room the world of Harry Potter. There also hasn’t been any details of what will be included in the park, but it’s pretty much a no-brainer that a huge replica of Hogwarts and a version of Hogsmeade village will be built. Odds are they will place a Forbidden Journey in the park, but the other attractions may end up being totally different, forcing hardcore Harry fans to have to visit BOTH parks. And of course the $10 mugs of Butterbeer will be poured in excess.
Are you excited to see a Harry Potter world coming to the West Coast?
