Life presents us with some pretty big challenges. Getting into a good school, giving birth to your first child, and doing something like taking the most important test of your scholastic career. Let’s say you accomplished the first and then you just go ahead and combine the other two? Like going into labor while taking the bar exam? A woman taking the Illinois bar exam did just that, and she didn’t just go into labor, but she stayed to finish the test! A source told…
the site Above the Law, ” A friend of mine went into labor while taking the Illinois bar exam,” they said. “She calmly finished, went to the hospital, and had her baby an hour or two later. Girl’s a real trooper.”
The new mom is a recent grad of Northwestern Law school and was part of the Accelerated J.D. – where one could get their degree in two years instead of three. Above the Law noted that, “Before the start of the afternoon session on day two (Wednesday) of the Illinois bar exam, the very pregnant (woman) mentioned to the proctors the possibility that she might give birth during the test. She asked if she could leave early in the event that she went into labor; they agreed.” But she proved her trooper-ness and actually sat there while in active labor and took the entire test. She may have perhaps rushed a bit, since she finished the test an hour early. Generally testers aren’t allowed to leave the room early, but seeing that she was in labor and all, they made an exception.
Fortunately the place where the test was taking place was conveniently located, she just had to walk across the street to the hospital and she gave birth to her baby two hours later.
Let’s hope she wasn’t too frantic while taking the test, rushing to get it done to you know give birth and all. But people can do some amazing things while adrenaline pulses through your veins. One thing for sure, to be a lawyer you need to be pretty tenacious, and this woman? She proved that she is without a doubt.
Would you have sat through the test or would you have split?
