Candace Alper | Name Your Tune
Candace’s Rankings
- #10 Books & Media

bright idea
Company: Name Your Tune
Location: Toronto, Canada
Children: Daughter, 8 ⢠Age: 37
Inspiration: “I used to sing songs to my daughter when we were playing and every now and then I would throw her name in,” Alper says. “Every time I did, her face would light up.” By August 2003, she started recording.
Perspiration: Alper fronted the initial funds and enlisted help from musician friends. Together they recorded 10 children’s songs to sell at holiday fairs. Alper was not expecting the strong response she got. “I thought it would pay a few bills and allow me to stay home with my daughter for a little bit longer,” she says. ” [But] when we started drawing from media, even celebrities, I knew we were onto something.”
Success: Since 2003, Name Your Tune has sold over 50,000 albums and boasts a wide roster of celebrity clients including Patrick Dempsey, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Matt Damon, Soledad O’Brien, Adam Sandler, Debra Messing, Denise Richards and Tori Spelling.

Well Done!
