Latham Thomas | Tender Shoots Wellness
Latham’s Rankings

bright idea
Company: Tender Shoots Wellness
Location: New York, New York
Children: Son, 7 ⢠Age: 30
Inspiration: Thomas’ background in cooking and nutrition eased her transition to pregnancy. “Other moms started asking me questions, so I began holding small classes in my living room on things like how to prepare foods that will help the milk supply,” she says. Things grew from there.
Perspiration: Using contacts from her previous job as a nutritional consultant, Thomas picked out services she thought would be most profitable, then established partnerships with local gyms and holistic life centers. “Once I took the leap into doing this full time [in 2006], I was trying to be supermom and I just couldn’t,” she says. “I had to force myself to share my ideas with people and most of the time they said, ‘Oh that sounds great! What can I do to help?’”
Success: With a little help from her friends, Thomas has grown Tender Shoots Wellness into a powerhouse facility that boasts recommendations from Dr. Oz and Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes. Thomas is currently writing her first book.
