They cook, they clean and, between naptimes, they run kickass companies. For those who run their own mom-centric firms, the responsibilities of motherhood are only half the battle. Babble is running our first ever salute to the top 50 mompreneurs who pull all-nighters, suffer enormous financial set-backs, and balance business and baby every day to make their entrepreneurial dreams come true. Here's how they did it.

Inspiration: “In 2005 when my son was turning one, he was learning how to use a sippy cup,” Crevin says. “He was having a hard time keeping a grasp on it. We would go on walks and my $5 sippy cup was gone in the bushes in minutes. That’s how the SippiGrip [a cord that can attach to a sippicup, bottle or toy to prevent kids from dropping it on the floor], was born.” It would become the first product on the BooginHead line.
Perspiration: Shortly after coming up with the idea, Crevin was recruited by Microsoft and moved out to California. BooginHead was put on hold until 2008 when Crevin decided to resurrect it for a children’s product trade show in Vegas. “I was approached by Target to be in their parent-invented products program,” she says. “It was like getting an MBA. From there the company just took off.”
Crevin added items to the BooginHead line including the PaciGrip, a product similar to the SippiGrip that clips a pacifier to a toddler’s shirt. That’s where the company hit a snag. “We originally called it the BinkyGrip, but I got a cease and desist letter from a company saying that I can’t use any version of the word ‘binky,’” Crevin says. “I had thousands of units of the BinkyGrip on shelves and 20,000 ready to be distributed. I wanted to give up.” Crevin’s husband talked her out of throwing in the towel and the company that issued the cease and desist letter agreed to restrain legal action as long as Crevin phased out the BinkyGrip fast.
Success: With five products on the market, BooginHead is set to make its first million this year.
