Megan Jordan of Velveteen Mind

Her Rankings

Velveteen Mind may be the only mommy blog that came into existence as a direct result of Hurricane Katrina. When Mississippi-based writer and mom Megan Jordan lost more than 50 of her saved journals in the iconic storm, she turned to digital archiving in the form of her blog, which she launched in 2007. While Velveteen Mind is categorized as a mom blog, Megan notes that many of her readers don’t even know how many kids she has. Known for her lush and literary writing style, Megan also regularly tackles the business of blogging in her writing and public speaking, advocating that other bloggers take a deliberative, “less is more” approach to social media strategy. Find more of her well-wrought musings on her Babble Voices blog, Threadbare Theory.
