Yet Another Tylenol Recall...Do Parents Even Use It Anymore?

tylenol recall, tylenol extra strength, johnson & Johnson, children recalls, medication recalls

Are you leery about buying Tylenol?

How sick are you of hearing about another Tylenol recall?

I myself can’t recall any other company that orders recalls of their products quite as much as Tylenol does.

Today’s recall involves Tylenol Extra Strength Caplets.

According to CBS News, J&J’s McNeil division said it had gotten reports about the odor, which has been linked in past recalls to the presence of traces of 2,4,6-tribromoanisole. The compound – a byproduct of a chemical preservative used on shipping pallets – has been linked to transient gastrointestinal symptoms.

I don’t understand why this happens so often yet Johnson & Johnson manages to be able to manufacture their products without incidence or penalty. Particularly, when so many of the recalls involve medication that is administered to babies and children, there needs to be assurance that when we buy the products, they will be safe.

Honestly, I buy the generic versions now if my children ever need them. The generic versions haven’t been recalled; they’re cheaper and offer the same basic ingredients, so why not?

Large companies market themselves to parents on the trust factor of knowing the brand name, but in this case, the name is backfiring on them.

Do you still but Tylenol for your kids? How about for yourself? Why do you think the recalls keep occurring?
