Yoga or Child Abuse? Baby-Swinging Videos Boggle the Mind

Baby yoga or child abuse?

Gawker unearthed a bizarre “baby-swinging” video yesterday featuring a Russian woman named Lena Fokina who claims to practice “baby yoga.”  The problem is, her baby yoga looks a lot less like yoga and a lot more like child abuse.  In the video, Fokina tosses a baby over head and swings him by his arms and ankles in a way that you wouldn’t treat a Thanksgiving turkey.  According to Gawker, “Oddly, there is precedent: Russian swinging baby videos are a meme.”

They’ve certainly been around since 2008, when Jezebel first posted a baby swinging video.  That video “ignited mass hysteria and led to Australian police raiding a journalist’s house.”  Gawker readers seem to feel these videos are fake, but I’m not so sure.  I’ve embedded one below.  Take a look and let me know what you think: <br/>
