Young Girl Escapes Senior Citizen Predator

81-year-old Keith Holmes

A 12-year-old girl escaped a child predator in California over the weekend, and a persistent mother was able to help police track down the would-be kidnapper.

On Saturday, 81-year-old Keith Holmes asked the girl if she wanted a ride and the girl dismissed him, but he kept following her. A nearby mom took down the man’s license plate after she came to the aid of the girl and helped chase him away.

Holmes turned out to be a convicted child molester and a “notorious predator” who had been arrested twice in the past two years for molesting children. He was on probation for those crimes.

According to the NY Daily News, “the Palmdale deputy who cuffed Holmes said his car was filled with shady “items” that would have helped him kidnap a child.” Holmes is being held on $1 million bail.

What is disturbing about this story, besides the obvious, is that this man was able to molest two children and yet still get out on the streets again. If it wasn’t for the quick thinking action of the mother who noticed that something was going on, who knows what might have happened to this young girl? Luckily, the girl was also smart enough to distance herself away from the car and not accept a ride.

Most people would never think that an 81-year-old man would be a predator. Perhaps his age was a factor in not jailing him the prior two times, but it shouldn’t have been. Anyone convicted of molesting a child should not be allowed out to molest again without extensive treatment and without being very carefully watched.

Would you ever think an 80+ year old man would be a threat to your child?
