When I was a kid I wanted a monkey. Not a big monkey. I wanted a monkey that was only a few inches tall and could fit on my desk at school. I’d have school day adventures with that monkey. I’m not quite sure why it had to be a monkey, but I had big dogs and all I knew back then were the German Shepherds and Rottweilers that I grew up with. If I had seen itty bitty toy breeds that so many people now have, I am confident I would have much preferred a tiny Chihuahua or pint-sized Dachshund instead.
Our Chihuahua, Hayley, is mixed with American Eskimo so not as small as you might think, and at 14 pounds, nowhere near tea-cup sized. I’ve never owned a very tiny dog, the kind you could fit in the palm of your hand. But in the future, it’s a definite possibility.
