An Interview With Sir Winston Hendrix!

Today I thought I might share a little interview with the most handsome Boston Terrier known to man!

This little mister came to live with me when he was just about 8 weeks old, and we’ve been pals ever since. Last month he celebrated his 6th birthday and so, of course, I had to wax nostalgic by looking back at old photos… such a tiny little dude when we first met. And oh my goodness, what a photogenic little face! I’m so happy to have him by my side.

Hello, Sir Winston Hendrix! My, my, your name is a bit of mouthful. How did your mama come up with it?
Back in Ottawa, Ontario — the place where I was born — the lovely breeder lady's children decided I was a rock star, from day one! They gave me the name Hendrix. However, when I arrived in Ontario a few weeks later, my new mama decided I looked like a Winston, and so she bumped my first name to the middle and added a Sir to the front for a touch of class. But let's be honest... she only uses my full name when I've done something naughty!

    Naughty? Tell us more!
Well, I'm ashamed to admit it, but I have a bit of a chewing obsession. When I was tiny, I managed to get my teeth on all sorts of things.. books, shoes, socks, door frames, bamboo knitting needles, batteries, kitchen utensils, toys, rolls of toilet paper... I wasn't especially picky about it. One afternoon I did a remodel of my mom's bathroom. I saw that the linoleum was coming up in the corner, so I figured I'd just help her out. By the time she got home from work I'd pulled the entire floor up! I was so proud! For some reason... she was not. Humans are weird.

What does your morning routine look like?
I generally wake up around the same time as my mama and her human-baby, then I prance around in front of them until someone lets me outside to romp about and do my business. Then it's BREAKFAST TIME! If I do a bit of a tap dance on the kitchen floor, I'm guaranteed a snackeroo! I eat (very quickly) and then I like to play with the human-baby before she goes to daycare. That little 3-year-old might just be my best pal... she's always so happy to see me, and when mom's not looking, WE TOTALLY SNUGGLE ON THE COUCH. Shhh... don't tell!
  • Do you have any favourite toys? 4 of 9
Do you have any favourite toys?
This is a tricky one. I've had a BILLION toys that I've loved, but as I mentioned with my chewing obsession, I'm a destroyer of things. Over the last six years or so, my mama has only ever found ONE toy that I can't completely destroy within minutes (or hours). I was SO happy to find this awesome green ball than I couldn't actually tear to pieces. I consider it a challenge, really. Sadly, I lost it under the porch last year and can't seem to find it again! Woe is me. (Psst... mama, buy me a new one!)
  • Who are your best friends? 5 of 9
    Who are your best friends?
I think my VERY best friend is my sister, Kitten. She's a few years older than me, and even though she wasn't super impressed with my arrival on the scene, we've grown quite close over the years. See that photo? That's me showing her a bit of love. I'm a rough and tumble sort of dude. I also have some puppy friends, but sometimes I get TOO friendly with them and mom rolls her eyes, dragging me back home again. Oops.

What do you like to eat?
    EVERYTHING! NEXT QUESTION!
  • Have you ever taken an emergency trip to the vet? 7 of 9
Have you ever taken an emergency trip to the vet?
Just once. I must have eaten something that really upset my tummy because I was ill for two days, couldn't keep anything in my belly and I ended up losing 8lbs (which was a lot for my 22lb self!) I had to spend the night, but I recovered just fine. My poor mom was SO worried about me. I have also injured myself a few times, but not enough to necessitate a vet trip. Twice I bit a bee and my lip swelled up — just check out that photo of my poor face!
  • What is your favourite season? 8 of 9
    What is your favourite season?
I'm really into autumn — just like my mama. She loves to crunch around in the leaves and everything just smells pretty fabulous. I actually don't mind winter either, becuase even though my toes get awfully cold, my ma likes to dress me up in the most COZY outfits, and I love it! I'm a pretty stylish dude... when I was tiny I wore a tux. Pretty swanky, eh?
  • What are your dreams for the future? 9 of 9
What are your dreams for the future?
If the rest of my life could consist of chill days, relaxing at home, snoozing on beds where I'm not allowed, sleeping, having my belly rubbed, romps in the park, sleeping, treats and sleeping? Well then I'd be a happy, happy boy. (So far, so good!)
