Awwww: Dalmatian Adopts Orphaned Spotted LambJoslyn Gray
An orphaned spotted lamb, abandoned by its mother, has been adopted by a female Dalmatian, says AP.
The lambs’ coloring is “once in a blue moon” says farmer John Bolton, who raises sheep and Dalmatians in southern Australia.
John and his wife Julie bottle-feeds the orphaned lamb, says ABC news, but the Dalmatian’s attention is is still very beneficial for the lamb. The dog’s constant licking keeps the lamb’s bowels working properly, and keeps its face clean.
“It seems to be quite a natural thing for her to pick this up, and have something to mother,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter how old you get. If this sort of thing doesn’t make you feel good when you see it, well, I hope never to get that old,” said Mr. Bolton.
