My black Lab mix is a mush, plain and simple. There is no place she’d rather be than by my side. She also uses her paws way more than any other dog I’ve ever had.
If I go as far as down the block and come back, I am greeted with a welcome home handhold or a hug. Her ears go back and she looks up at me with that “I’m so glad you’re home” face and then she gives me her paw to hold. If I’m gone for a long time, I get two paws and if if I’m gone most of the day, it’s a full out hug (and she uses her paws and arms just like any person does).
So, I completely identified with this video, and it was unbelievably cute to see this dog, who is a little anxious on a ride in the car and has to hold his owner’s hand.
Entitled, ‘The Most Annoyingly Cute Thing Ever’ (we agree!), it shows Shiro, a 10-month-old Siberian Husky getting a little nervous because she knows her owner is going to go to work. Shiro’s owner explains how she only gets this anxious on his daily commute to work:
“She only really does this when I go on this specific route, she knows that I will be leaving her for a few hours to go to work (I take her to my parents they have a huge backyard to run around in). Any other time I go out she’s a lot more calm and just watches out the window…..still holds my hand though.”
And the loving feeling is mutual. The owner writes, “She truly is the best thing that has happened to my life up till now.”
Does your dog ever hold your hand when s/he gets nervous? How do you help alleviate your’ dog’s separation anxiety?
