It’s a Girl! Obama Family Welcomes Sunny!

It’s always happy news when someone welcomes a new family member into their house. Furrbabies are to be celebrated as well and earlier this week, the President of the United States and his family welcomed Sunny, their new dog.

Sunny is joining her dog brother Bo, who his a fellow Portuguese Water Dog — a great allergy-friendly breed. The Obama’s have allergies in the family which is why we’re seeing them welcome another from the same breed. Well, that and they’re so cute!

Sunny, who was born in Michigan on June 2012, is said to be full of energy, affectionate, and looks just like her older brother Bo. According to the White House, the family chose the name because of her personality, which is always bright and bubbly. I have a feeling she will become just as popular as Bo and help out in the official White House duties including greeting guests who are on White House tours and taking nightly walks with the family.

In a short video shared by the White House on YouTube, we get a glimpse into the sunny personality Sunny has and it’s great to see Bo so happy too:

These two dogs are truly beautiful and I’m sure in no time, Sunny will be melting all our hearts, just as her older brother Bo has done.

While Sunny is going to be very well-loved too, you can see the devotion Bo has for his family. In all the images we see of Bo, we can see his great personality. If that's a trait of the breed, Sunny is probably just as awesome! Here's a cute photo of Bo hanging out on the gorgeous bench in the West Garden Room of the White House. Soon enough I bet we will see two dogs on there -- they certainly can fit!
