Twinsies! 8 Animals That Look Like Other Animals

There are so many different animals in the world. Some we see every day, other’s we see when we visit the zoo or other parts of the world and some just seem plain unreal to us. I have always been fascinated with animals, yes my love goes beyond cats, and the more I hunt out interesting and strange animals, the more my mind is blown.

There are animals that are quickly distinguishable due to their characteristics. We all know what a Panda looks like or an elephant. We can tell the difference between a mouse and a rat by looking at the tail and we can pick out a bear verses a dear any day. There are some animals where picking them out may not be as easy as others. I like to call them “animal twinsies” — animals that look like other animals, but really they’re totally different.

Check out these animal twinsies and see if you can spot the differences.

  • … Looks Like a Llama 11 of 17
    12-

They look so similar I had to look up the difference. According to Mount Airy Alpacas Company, the difference is "the llama is roughly twice the size of the alpaca and the llama has a very coarse outer coat over a softer inner coat - as opposed to the alpaca, which has a very fine, single coat. In addition, the llama produces far less fiber per animal than the alpaca, despite its much larger size." So, there ya go!

  • An Alligator 12 of 17
    15-

I bet you can figure out the look alike for this animal. They're both scary and really do look a lot a like. Click through to the next slide to see it's look-a-like.

  • … Looks Like a Crocodile 13 of 17
    16-

They look so much alike I had to look this one up too. According to Animal Planet, the difference is All alligators are crocodiles, but not all crocodiles are alligators. It's totally confusing, but they're related, but still different. Read on Animal Planet for a more detailed, scientific explanation.

    07-
