12 Things I'm Dying To Buy My First Son (After 4 Girls!)

By Casi Densmore-Koon |

Some days I am still in shock when I say yep, I’m having a boy. It’s just doesn’t seem quite right yet even though I know he will complete our family just perfectly. However, after tons of pink, Barbie’s, and a whirlwind of bows and ruffles – I am still having a hard time shopping for my Little Man and I really needed to start stocking-up. I literally have tried making myself buy something in Target and I just can’t — what is with the boy’s selection of clothes these days? So, everytime I come across something cute, I snatch it up. I am really trying to build this poor guys wardrobe since the girls well, they are set for life.  It is just entirely too easy to pick things out for the girls, as well as dangerous. You can spend $400 in BabyGap in less than 30 minutes. No good! Especially when your 5 year old handed half of it to you. At least with a boy, I probably won’t have to worry about that!

So far? I have about 10 things. Which means? I need to get shopping! Especially considering I always go early and no joke, we usually hit Target on the way home for the essentials we didn’t have time to get before their arrival. Again, true story folks! This time, I am ready to be fully prepared and have everything I need by 30 weeks. Which means, I am starting online!

After the jump, browse 12 things I’m dying to buy my little man. I’ve already purchased some of them!

I agree with you–shopping for boy clothes is HARD! It’s incredibly difficult to find AFFORDABLE pieces that don’t have cheap-looking cartoons or silly words on them. I am also pregnant with my first boy, and I was horrified when I went to Kohl’s and Target just to look around. With my daughter, I was still pretty selective, but I could always find something pretty and neutral of words or cartoons. The infant boys section at Kohl’s was nothing but onesies with puppies that said “Good boy!” or “Daddy’s lil slugger!”–YUCK! I managed to find ONE SET of solid, neutral-color onesies in the entire department. This little boy will probably be wearing white onesies with brown/black/blue leggings for quite some time…

I agree Lindsay! I have picked up quite a few solid items and leggings or stripes as well. It is def. SO hard. Good luck!

I was very lucky with my little man. Almost all of his clothes from newborn to 6-9 months I got from second hand stores or donated from family by the garbage bag full. I’m also to frugal to shop retail for most things…I suffer from sticker shock…even in wal-mart or target. Although I agree finding cute things for boys is harder than it should be.
