10 Holiday Movies to Unwrap

One of my favorite ways to spend chilly December nights is on the couch, watching back-to-back (to-back-to-back) holiday movies.  But there are only so many times that I can watch Elf.  So here are 10 new-to-me or long-forgotten holiday movies that I’m dying to watch and re-watch on the Xbox 360.  Have you seen these gems?

  • Eight Crazy Nights 1 of 10
    Eight Crazy Nights
This animated movie focuses on the Hanukkah celebration and features the hit song "The Chanukah Song." Eight crazy nights, y'all!
    Available on Amazon
  • A Christmas Carol 2 of 10
    A Christmas Carol
Another animated holiday movie that I need to check out, mainly because it stars Jim Carrey. And I love the classic tale by Charles Dickens!
    Available on Amazon
  • National Lampoons Christmas Vacation 3 of 10
    National Lampoons Christmas Vacation
Any installment of the National Lampoon's Vacation series is one that I need to catch. This one stars Chevy Chase and a young Juliette Lewis.
    Available on Amazon
  • Scrooged 4 of 10
    Scrooged
Like A Christmas Carole, Scrooged is based on Dickens' famous holiday story, but this one has a modern twist. Scrooged stars Bill Murray as a jaded TV executive who discovers the true meaning of the holiday when he's visited by three ghosts.
    Available on Amazon
  • It’s a Wonderful Life 5 of 10
    It's a Wonderful Life
Now, this is a movie that I've seen a dozen times and love it just as much every viewing. If you haven't seen this 1946 classic, it's about George Bailey, a man who decides to commit suicide but is stopped by the arrival of his guardian angel, who shows him all the lives he's touched. How hunky is James Stewart in this movie?!
    Available on Amazon
  • The Muppet Christmas Carol 6 of 10
    The Muppet Christmas Carol
Oh yes. Another Dickens adaptation! This one, however, stars the Muppets, so you know it's going to be awesome. Available on Amazon
  • Home Alone 7 of 10
    Home Alone
I first watched this Macaulay Culkin hit when I was six years old, and I love it just as much today. As a kid, this movie prompted tons of fantasies about being left home alone… until the burglaries broke in and terrorized Macaulay!
    Available on Amazon
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas 8 of 10
    The Nightmare Before Christmas
Of all the animated Christmas movies, this is my favorite, mostly because it combines a little bit of Halloween with the ho-ho-holidays. Tim Burton's hit features Jack Skellington, the grand king of Halloweentown, who discovers Christmas Town and decides to celebrate the holiday. Available on Amazon
  • Four Christmases 9 of 10
    Four Christmases
Here's a holiday movie that I can relate to… Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon travel between their four divorced parents. And hilarity ensues.
    Available on Amazon
  • Elf 10 of 10
    Elf
Okay. Elf is always my number one. No holiday list is complete without this Will Ferrell favorite!
    Available on Amazon
