10 Tips for Partners of Pregnant Women

By Rebekah Kuschmider |

Despite all the progress we’ve made in making pregnancy an experience for both members of a couple, there’s still a fair amount of mystery about what the non-gestating member of the pair is really supposed to do. Sure, midnight runs to the store for pickles and ice cream are de rigeur in the movies, but is that really what pregnant women want?

The answer is: Maybe. No two women are alike and no two pregnancies are alike so there’s no way to know exactly what any pregnant woman will need in the way of support. The only thing you can be sure of is that she WILL need support. Emotional, physical, and logistical. Pregnancy is not something any woman should do without someone nearby to help out.

While I can’t hand out  hard and fast advice on the specifics of any pregnancy, I can offer a few general tips for partners of pregnant women on how best to be a good teammate during this weird and wild 40 weeks.

I love these types of stories, but having to wait for the page to refresh every time you click the “next” button on the slideshow is so annoying… I end up never actually getting to the end of an article.

  2. Janet says:

I wish my bf would understand this. And yes I agree with Gabi. Why can’t you just scroll down and have all parts of the article on one page? I hate having to go back to the main page.

  3. Diane Perez says:

Wow reading these just made me realize how unsupportive my husband really is..I still carry the groceries in and he makes fun of me when my clothes do not fit. Now I am sad :-(
