12 Unique Memory Books for Baby and Mom

By michellehorton |

After a recent browse through the pregnancy section at Barnes & Noble, I was shocked at how few baby memory books I found on the shelves. Or at least baby books that aren’t cutesy and generic.

You have options, ladies! Options!

Of course there isn’t anything wrong with choosing a run-of-the-mill baby book to jot down “baby’s firsts” and to display your sonogram photos, but what about the parents looking for something that reflects their modern style? What about single moms who have to skip over every question about how “dad” feels and what “dad” thinks? Or what about families with two moms? Or two dads?

Again — options!

Here are 12 unique memory books that aren’t like the rest:

The First 1000 Days: A Baby Journal

A reflective journal-like book with unique questions and plenty of blank space. It's also one of the few baby books that doesn't confine parents to traditional "mom" and "dad" roles — making it perfect for single parents and untraditional family structures.

I love all the unique options that are listed above for a baby book! I just want to add one more that is unique: is the only online baby book with email reminders that link directly to your child’s story. This feature helps to keep busy parents on track in recording baby’s milestones. The service is free and users can choose to purchase a professionally printed, hard-bound copy of their child’s story; or, users can choose to purchase their book on CD if they prefer. I am a mom of three young boys and I created because I love telling my kids the story of their lives. Kristin Coons, Founder
