13 Pounds 10 Ounces: Now That's A Big Baby!

Attack of the giant baby!

I absolutely cannot imagine carrying a nearly 14 pound baby around in my womb.  I’d had enough with my 7 pounder and that’s half the size.  Half!

Fiona Anderson did it, ultimately giving birth to one of Britain’s biggest ever babies. Hugh Donald Evans tipped the scales at 13 pounds, 10 ounces when he arrived by Caesarean section.

Holy crap!  My son is nearly 4 months and I don’t think he weighs that much yet!

And, of course a c-section! Who could push that big boy out of a vagina, I’d like to know?

Even doctors are blown away. The average newborn is about half Hugh’s weight – and doctors at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness, said they had never delivered a heavier baby.

Anderson had gestational diabetes during pregnancy. Doctors think it may have boosted Hugh’s size because he received too much glucose in the womb.

She tells The Daily Mail she’s not surprised he was big because she’s always had big babies. But she is surprised he’s that big.

‘We had growth scans, so we knew he was going to be large. We were expecting a ten pounder. But 13lb 10oz we were not. We’re absolutely delighted with the birth of our new son but obviously we were both quite surprised at how big he is. When my eldest son Rhys was born, he weighed 10lb 5oz and when Cerys was born, she weighed 10lb 1oz. All the children were born by C-section so I was scheduled in for a C-section anyway with Hugh.”

Mom says she’s glad he’s so big because her other children won’t be able to pick him up so easily and, perhaps, hurt him.

Good point. Way to look on the bright side.
