1980s Ultrasound

An Ultrasound device from 1980, reminds me of an 1980's mobile phone, HUGE!

With modern technology, there are so many things us pregnant moms take for granted.  One being the modern day ultrasound. Now a days, you can get a glimpse of about what your baby looks like before your little thing even leaves the womb!

In the 1980’s the concept of an ultrasound was NEW.  It’s hard to believe, that women went thru pregnancy assuming they knew ABOUT when their baby would arrive, all going on assumptions. While today’s due date isn’t the exact date of delivery, you typically aren’t off by weeks and you have a general idea of a timeframe for delivery.

Check out this video from 1980 from the TV show 3-2-1 Contact. A 1980’s ultrasound is performed and explained. While the technology has drastically improved, the concept is still the same.

I remember my mom and dad bringing home a VHS with an ultrasound of my sister. She was born in 1985. It was such NEW technology back then!

The ultrasound transducer is HUGE. It reminds me of a 1980’s mobile phone.

Also, check out the end segment where the lady delivers a baby.  She makes it look too easy, and the hospitals I delivered in surely didn’t sanitize everything like that!
