20 Least Popular Baby Names in American History

By now, I’m sure you’ve seen the fun GIF of the most popular baby girl names from 1960 to today. Little was surprising about that animated map. We’ve all known a Jessica or a Jennifer likely both. But the map is fun, nonetheless.

And it left one inquisitive blogger over at Mental Floss to question what the least popular baby names in American history are. Turns out, giving your baby a ridiculous name has a long history in this country. Dating back to 1880, mothers and fathers have been choosing absurd names for their babies, like Green, Boss, Golden, and Lovey, just to name a few. Seriously, what are people thinking sometimes?
